A trip to Budapest 
 
 

From 12 to 17 May within the framework of the project “European weeks in libraries for children in Moscow region” there was hold “Hungary week”.  

This project was launched on 10th December, 2006. In 2007 the library held “weeks» of Swiss, France, Czechia. The agenda of the “weeks” includes different events such as seminars, exhibitions, literary quizzes and many other events. The main object of this project is – to unlock child’s creativity in literature.

The very project aroused public interest not only in Moscow region and in Russia but also abroad. So, according to the results of “Germany week” the Moscow regional state children’s library was given the highest award “the Dark blue small suitcase" - the program on development of the children's reading, based on a German technique. It should be mentioned that it is the first time when the very award left Germany.

The project “Hungary week” was launched on 12th May. The program of the project included 3 parts:

  1. For the children up to 10. The topic was “a walk into a fairy tale”. A participant had to write a continuation of one of the Hungarian fairy tales being one of its characters.
  2. For the children up to 14. They had to write a guide book to Hungary. The topics were: a) a voyage along Danube; b) Hungarian cuisine; c) a soul of Magyar; d) the palaces and castles of Hungary; e) Hungarian museums; f) the sightseeing of one of Hungary g) my Hungary (a topic at choice).  
  3. For librarians. Literary trip along Hungary.

Thanks to sponsorship it became possible to organize real trips for winners to foreign countries.

On 17th May at 12 pm in Hungarian cultural centre (Moscow) in the presence of the first secretary of Embassy of Hungary Andras Farago a festive concluding ceremony of “Hungary week” took place. At about 80 people (participants, jurymen, sponsors and journalists) were present at the awarding ceremony. A journalist from Hungarian newspaper “Népszabadság” attented the concluding ceremony. The information and the results of this project were placed in a large majority of federal and regional mass media: radio, television, newspapers. A studio school “Koda” created a piece of Hungary introducing a show of Hungarian dances in national clothes. At the end of the ceremony 16 children up to 10 years old (a literary contest “A walk into a fairy tale”) 12 children up to 14 (writing of a guide book to Hungary) and 6 libraries (the contest of “Hungary week” agendas) were awarded. In accordance with “Hungary week” results the premier place took Kutakov Maksim (9 years old) from Yegorievsk, Moscow region. CJCS “GEDEON RICHTER-RUS” is going to sponsor a week tour for the winner to Budapest. 

The project “European weeks in libraries for children in Moscow region” earned large popularity not only in Russia but even abroad as it helps in intellectual development of the younger generation; acquaint them with a cultural landscape - history, cultural traditions, literature, art of the European countries, life in the Europe,  strengthen cultural cooperation between Russia and Europe.
